It’s always such a joy when I get to photograph families I’ve journeyed with over the years. I’ve had the privilege of capturing each of these three little ones during their birthday celebrations, watching them grow a little taller and a little bolder each time.

This time it was about something just as meaningful — their back to school portraits. Taken in their new home, the kids were all dressed in their school uniforms, ready for another year of learning and adventure. These portraits are not just photos, they are school memories frozen in time, showing each child’s personality and the excitement of starting a new term.

School portraits don’t always have to be taken in a studio. I love photographing back to school portraits at home, where kids feel comfortable and free to be themselves. It brings out their natural smiles and makes the session part of the family story.

Every new school year is a milestone worth remembering — new classrooms, new friendships, and the comfort of family cheering them on. These everyday chapters may feel small now, but one day they will be treasured moments to look back on.
